In order to promote the maintenance and transmission of regional practices and knowledge created outside the circuits of high urban culture, the Caravana das Tradições is an itinerant exhibition of traditional and contemporary culture and has become a platform for preservation and diffusion through presentations, exhibitions, masterclasses, films, music, dance, gastronomy and story telling held in squares, streets, museums and cultural spaces across Ibero-America.

Affirming that mutual understanding and intercultural dialogue constitute important dimensions of the dialogue among civilizations and the culture of peace, the assembly encouraged member states to consider initiatives that identify areas for practical action at all levels of society to promote intercultural tolerance, understanding and cooperation. It also encouraged the promotion of dialogue among the media from all cultures and civilizations.
